What insurance do I need to be a DeliveryApp driver?

To be a delivery app driver you will need two types of insurance:

1. Hire and Reward Insurance: This is a legal requirement for drivers who carry other people’s goods in return for payment. This insurance is available to purchase via Zego in our mobile app. To connect your Zego Account within the app, follow these steps: Open the DeliveryApp app > Account > My Zego Account > Proceed (add in the relevant details).
2. Goods in Transit Insurance: This covers items from theft, loss or damage while they are being transported by vehicle from one place to another. This type of insurance is available from many insurance providers from low monthly costs. All of our van drivers must have a minimum Goods in Transit Insurance of £10,000. Car drivers should have a minimum of £5,000, however where car drivers do not have this DeliveryApp will cover the cost of any genuine claim up to £250.

What is Zego pay as you go insurance and how do I access it?

DeliveryApp has partnered with Zego Insurance, to provide the drivers on our platform easy and cost-efficient Hire and Reward insurance for those who do not already have it.

The majority of car owners insure their car for social, domestic and pleasure, however this level of insurance cover is not accepted for drivers on our platform. You can pay as little as £3 a day to be covered for Hire and Reward via Zego. To connect your Zego Account within the mobile app, follow these steps: Open the DeliveryApp app > Account > My Zego Account > Proceed (add in the relevant details).

Once you have got your Zego Insurance, don’t forget to upload a screenshot of your document in the My documents section, including the expiry date so we can make sure you are covered and quickly get you activated.

What is Goods in Transit insurance and why do I need it if I already have Hire and Reward insurance?

Goods in Transit (GIT) insurance is insurance for the goods you are carrying. If they were to be stolen or damaged, Goods in Transit insurance would cover this. Hire and Reward only covers the car and not the goods inside it.
